What: Star Wars Fan Edit

What:

This is an attempt to create a film that combines the three films of Star Wars called The force Awakens, The last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker into one coherent Fan Edit. This is not to shun on the majestically produced films by Disney, but as an experience, to see if it was possible at all. And most importantly, to teach myself to edit a larger motion picture. If you want to read the why continue. If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and watch it. I recommend that you download the file, but you should be able to watch it in google drives player if you don't have the fastest internet. Anyway, enjoy the movie and may the force be with you.

Why and how:

This project came right after I was done editing my previous fan edit called Star Wars Episode 1-3: The Chosen One (Linked above). A friend of mine suggested that I try my editing tricks on these three films. At first, I thought it impossible, but alas, I was fooled. The sequel trilogy has not been the most well-received films and my attempt to combine them was a challenge. If not impossible, then highly difficult.

Gone are the Canto Bright sequence and inserted are rebels escaping by their hair on there necks. Gone are the dagger from The Rise of Skywalker and well, I won't spoil anymore. There is also certain scenes that has been reorganized to fit better with the narrative the film is trying to tell. Also scenes have been cut for time reasons. There is still so much more to do (some of which require a beefier Pc than the one I have now), but on a future version some things may change.

The film does sport a new look, but only in certain sections. What I mean by this, is that TLJ sports a warmer look than the J.J Abrams produced-films. To compensate for this, a few small tweaks were made in certain parts of the film to it's color grade.

To create a more believable narrative, new deleted scenes that were originally cut from the movies are included in this edit. This time around I couldn't find the source, so a fellow video editor by the name of HAL9000 provided the content. In fact, many of the changes that were in this edit was extracted from HAL9000 re-edits, so thanks! It helped a ton and sped this project months ahead of release.

The scenes include:

Luke Reflects: This was a way to show that there is a human being inside Luke and not just a grumpy old man. He reflects in his hut and that pretty much it, but it is a nice scene. It's the little things that matter and showing this really makes you sympathize with what has happen to this character and how broken he must be.

Other stuff: There are many small tweaks in this edit. Many of the changes came from HAL9000's re-edit, including one of the best changes to TROS (Force ghost), among many other small shots that makes the film more barrable. There is also music changes and removal of some of the more cringe attempts of humor in TLJ to name a few. Luke now also lives alone on the island, if you now what I mean.

The film also includes a brand new opening crawl. This was made to give the film a more Star Wars feel and to give a context to how this new film would start. This time I wrote the crawl myself, but will run this by my friend in the future.

The list of changes is extremely long and might be included in a future document.

Things that may change in future versions:

- Fix in colour grade - Not bad, but not great.
- Music fixes/Music additions - Possible a new mix.
- Small tweaks - Transitions and small tweaks.
- Subtitles(Multiple languages) - English is a priority.

- A revamped end credit - To highlight all the amazing people who created these films.
- List of changes.

Regardless, I hope you will enjoy the film as it is.

May the force be with you...

Always.
